Polina Seminova is well developed female dancer that explores all areas of using the body to portray a story whilst expressing emotions through the elements of: speed, the form and structure of the body, space left from using the bodies negative space and combination's of movements that can translate a tale of emotions.
Diane SmookDiane Smook is an Artist that explores photography. The above composition explores her concept of Dance as a study of Art. As an Artist she explores the movements that the body portrays whilst in motion of performing a dance.
Deweese is another photography Artist that inspires me to explore the concept of the body expressing its emotions through movements that compose a dance.
The above composition has explored a varieties of body shapes and movements this is an area I would like to further develop within my research.
" DeWeese Photographic Arts Dance Photography
I really enjoy working with dancers and I'm fortunate to have such strong dance programs at Indiana University and Butler University nearby, not to mention the area professional companies in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Louisville. I don't think that most people realize that dance requires as much dedication, and that dancers are every bit as fit, as most athletes. If rhythm, gymnastics and figure skating are Olympic events, then ballet should be too. Many thanks to the dancers that participated in these photographs. "
Dewesse also explores the body language of women, capturing the feminine strength within a photograph.
The shooting for the Feminine Strength project is virtually complete, but still an ongoing process. Work from the project made its gallery debut at the Robert Canaga Gallery in Eugene, Oregon in September of 2001 and then again in December. Hopefully, those won't be the last.
The participants in the project ranged from 20 to 58 years of age. The 58 year old was arguably the strongest of the group. She has a son that was a Navy Seal; wonder where he got his strength? Several were mothers and one was a grandmother. Athletes, triathletes, rock climbers, fitness instructors, martial arts practitioners, and people that built their strength through manual labor participated.
The best part of this project was getting to meet these wonderful women. Working with them had effects on my life that I couldn't have predicted. Shooting with a couple of ballet dancers introduced me to ballet and you only have to look elsewhere on this site to see how that influenced what I shoot these days."
PERSONAL ANALYSIS OF DEWEESE'S PHOTOGRAPHIC BODY LANGUAGE
Hidden and Concealed
Having Faith and Reaching for an Aim
Expressing a Change
Quiet sshhhhhhh..
Loud
Indecisive
Maybe?
These photographs have been captured by Deweese and explore the feminine form of portraying Dance as an Art. From these photographs the organic nude form of the females that Deweese has used, explores the elegant structure to the body, whilst in a contrast the photographs highlight the muscular areas of the body through stretching. The achromatic colour scheme of the creates photographsdepth on to the feminine body shape, therefore portraying the natural forms of women.
