Tony Ryan. "The Disappearing Dresses are the result of a process that began 2 years ago when Helen began talking to scientist Professor Tony Ryan OBE, who is a polymer chemist at the University of Sheffield. Using the symbols of the dissolving dress and other works that have arisen as a result of the collaboration, Wonderland shines light on the wider and much greater issues of sustainability and ethical living. A work perhaps vulnerable to cynicism, it demands and suggests intelligent change through brave collaboration and experiment."
Fashion Combined With Movement = Innovation Of Communication
Movement is a dramatic source of Communication therefore to inspire the concept of Movement into my own individual development I have researched such designers as:
- Bridgette Meinhold
- Mihrican DAMBA
- Hussein Chalayan
- Students from Beijing's Institute of Fashion Technology and the Taiwan Shih Chien University Graduates
- and photographers such as Tim Walker
All these designers have experimented with technology and transformed this to combine with Fashion, using the modern technology of today's society.
Initial Movement Ideas...
Having explored how movement can be applied into a garment I have composed some initial designs of a rotating garment or applying movement through gathered light chiffon that covers the body, therefore one move of the body = one moving garment.
